Stone mason in Le Fugeret (04240)
Le Fugeret is ten minutes away, at the mouth of the Vaïre gorge. Same stone as Annot, same sandstone — and a very stretched commune, from 760 to nearly 2,000 metres, with hamlets reached by narrow roads.

The local fabric
This is the heart of the Annot sandstone massif. Village and hamlet houses are built of roughly squared sandstone rubble in lime and sand mortar, with dressed quoins and surrounds where the house could afford them.
Farm buildings weigh heavily here: barns, sheds, drying lofts, and a great many retaining walls holding the cultivation terraces. Those are often what we come to rebuild — they were abandoned faster than the houses, and they give way at the foot.
What we do there
- Rebuilding retaining walls and terraces in local stone.
- Bringing sandstone barns and farm buildings back into use.
- Façade repair and lime repointing.
- Earthworks and drainage on steep ground.
