Where we work — 04240
Stone mason in Braux (04240)
Braux is a quarter of an hour away, in the Coulomp valley. It is a commune of scattered hamlets, nearly always on a slope, where access shapes the job as much as the work itself.

The local fabric
Annot sandstone outcrops here too and it is the building stone. But one difference from Annot is worth knowing before opening a wall: lime played only a marginal part at Braux, where Annot burnt its own from local limestone. In other words, you do not assume the binder, you look at it.
The hamlets are small, the lanes narrow, the houses set against the ground. Much of what we repair here comes down to retaining and to water: a wall pushing out, a terrace sinking, the foot of a façade taking up damp for want of drainage.
What we do there
- Retaining walls and underpinning on steep ground.
- Restoration of sandstone hamlet houses.
- Repointing and façade repair in a mortar compatible with what is there.
- Earthworks, drainage and run-off management.
